Best Practices

Effective Cross-Selling

  1. Relevance - Only offer products that make sense
  2. Timing - Present at appropriate moments
  3. Value - Focus on member benefit
  4. Consent - Respect "no thanks" responses
  5. Compliance - Follow all regulations

What to Avoid

  • Overwhelming with too many offers
  • Pushing inappropriate products
  • Ignoring decline preferences
  • Missing disclosure requirements
  • Hard-selling during sensitive moments

Member-First Approach

DoDon't
Offer relevant productsPush every product
Explain benefits clearlyUse high-pressure tactics
Accept "no" gracefullyRepeatedly offer declined items
Time offers appropriatelyInterrupt important processes
Document preferencesIgnore previous responses

Integration with Application

Embedded Cross-Sell

Products can be offered during the application flow:

  1. Application Start - Welcome bundles
  2. After Credit Pull - Pre-qualified offers
  3. During Terms Review - Add-on products
  4. At Acceptance - Complementary services
  5. Post-Funding - Follow-up offers

Separate Applications

Some products require separate applications:

  • Credit cards (separate underwriting)
  • Mortgages (different process)
  • Business accounts (different entity)
